On 8.10 and 30.10.2015 the multinational company Pfizer conducted volunteer activities with CITIES WITHOUT HUNGER. They were carried out at Julita Foundation and Recanto da Cruz Grande, institutions that attend children and adolescents.
The community works on 8.10.2015 took place in two rounds and everybody was busy helping the Julita Foundation to have their own vegetable garden. Together with the students, six vegetable beds were constructed using a design that leads rain water to small grooves in the soil. The Julita Foundation has a nursery and a school which altogether attend 1,300 children and adolescents. The foundation does an excellent work in raising awareness about environmental preservation.
The second volunteer day took place in the interior of the state São Paulo at the Recanto da Cruz Grande institution, which is located twelve kilometers from the center of Itapevi. The access to this place is difficult, but currently it is the only point for the local children and adolescents to conduct cultural and other leisure activities. A group of 20 Pfizer volunteers and the students from the institution restored an abandoned garden on the site with great commitment.
CITIES WITHOUT HUNGER realized these events in partnership with Atados, a social platform connecting people and organizations facilitating social engagement for various volunteering activities.
