Greenhouse with hydroponic system flourishes
The lettuce production using a hydroponic system continues to thrive at our project participant Rüdiger Temp’s greenhouse in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
According to the farmer, the results are impressive considering the minimal maintenance the system requires. The renouncement of detrimental agrochemicals is a critical advantage in this production.
The hydroponic method is a technique that allows for the cultivation of plants without soil. Instead, the roots are supplied with a balanced nutrient solution containing water and all the nutrients essential for plant growth.
The plants are placed in canals or vessels through which the nutrient solution circulates. Periodically, the pH and the concentration of supplements are measured to ensure ideal growing conditions.
