Hans Dieter Temp, founder of CITIES WITHOUT HUNGER was invited by the Alfred Herrhausen Society to participate at the urbanXchanger conference in the beginning of March 2016 in Berlin. During his stay Temp used the opportunity to keep further appointments where many new contacts have been made.
Temp was invited to Germany to present the results of a joint project at the urbanXchanger conference. CITIES WITHOUT HUNGER was chosen as a project partner in São Paulo in mid-September of 2015.
The project’s was executed two months later by a group of urbanists, architects and further participants with the goal to develop urban spaces. Part of the project was also the construction of a 15m² wodden pavilion and a mobile kitchen which includes a sink, a small stove and a storage area. This equipment shall greatly improve the possibility to host events at the community garden São Mateus.
Temp availed himself of the opportunity of meeting with representatives of urban agriculture initiatives in Germany.
Together with the team of the Cooperation and Consulting for Environmental Questions (kubus), the Technical University of Berlin’s funded science shop, Hans Dieter Temp discussed potential research projects and collaborations with scientists and students.
At the Albrecht Daniel Thaer Institute of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences of the Humboldt University of Berlin Temp held a presentation about CITIES WITHOUT HUNGER’s work.
Furthermore, he met the founder of several community garden projects in Berlin, Elisabeth Meyer-Renschhausen.
At last, Temp got to know the researchers from ROOF WATER FARM, a project which treats and utilizes sewage water for urban farming. The researchers showed their sustainable pilot project which is located in Berlin-Kreuzberg to Mr Temp.
In just under a week the founder of CITIES WITHOUT HUNGER deepened existing contacts and created new ones.
