Agricultural Greenhouses: Methodology and Construction
Stage 3 – Beginning the construction of the greenhouse base
Stage 3 comprises the construction of the greenhouse base by using concrete, and blocks, or other materials like bricks or stones (Photos 21 and 22). Begin by laying the concrete blocks or bricks at the ends of the foundation trench along the demarcated boundaries of the construction site (Photo 23) and leveling the blocks (Photo 24) on the four extremities (Photo 25 and 26). Vertical straightness of the concrete blocks must be checked (Photo 27 and 28) and the base should be constructed according to site demarcation (Photos 29 and 30). The greenhouse base should be built at a height of 40 cm from the site level (Photo 31), leaving previously excavated pit free for placing the columns (Photo 32). Recommended measures for preparing the mortar are six 18-liter cans of sand plus 1 bag of cement (50 kilograms).
Materials used in this stage: try square, folding ruler, level, trowel, plumb line
